4 Western Australian writers were commissioned in 2006 to create stories for Understory. They each visited Northcliffe to develop ideas in response to the local people and place. Some stories were published as books. All are available as audio tours.

Dianne wrote a five-part series of inter-connected short stories for children, called ‘Forest Stones’. These works are enhanced by sculptures created by artist, Kati Thamo.

Anna wrote a novella called ‘The Groups Settler’s Wife’ inspired by the fictional life of a Northcliffe ‘groupie’.
ANDREW TAYLOR

Andrew wrote a series of poems for our poetry anthology, ‘The Forest Waits’
LOUISE SCHOFIELD

Louise wrote a story for young adults called ‘Forest Music’. It is featured as an audio tour.
Kim wrote a novella called ‘Lost’ exploring an incident in the forest where a young child goes missing.
